The NFS has scored the highest overall score in a report compiled for the German Federal Ministry for Environment (BMUB) and the International Climate Initative (IKI).

The analysis report “A comparison of carbon market standards for REDD+ projects” was carried out by Germanwatch, a leading think tank and research organisation based in Germany.

The NFS was one of 8 standards chosen for analysis, based on its suitability for application in IKI projects.  There were a number of stringent criteria set out for analysing the REDD+ standards across  a number of categories.

The NFS scored consistently well across all criteria and achieved the highest total score out of all 8 standards analysed.
