The first Natural Forest Standard project has successfully achieved validation. The Trocano Araretama Conservation Project in Amazonas, Brazil is a Municipal project with a total project area of over 1.3 million hectares. The project aims to mitigate deforestation through implementation of the project activities whilst also bringing socio-economic benefits and biodiversity protection to the area for the 20 year duration of the project.
The independent third-party validation has been carried out by Environmental Services Inc., and following the successful completion of the process, the Trocano project has subsequently been approved by the NFS secretariat, ECO Governance Board and the NFS Technical Panel and registered as an active NFS project.
The completed validation report and statement can be viewed on the NFS Project Index page.
